The works on 'graphic distancings' are preceded by clear forms – precise incisions with the scalpel that initially fix what is visible. Yet a being can only ever be grasped in fragments of its truth – dependent on the viewpoint, on the context of the observer. Thus, in drawing, the distancing begins: a controlled departure from the concrete. Lines lose their clarity, forms dissolve. The concrete tilts into openness. Visibility becomes a threshold between intimation and absence.
